Father Accused of Raping Daughter

Police have detained a man as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged rape of a minor in the Belize District.

The investigation was launched on Monday, August 25, after a woman accompanied her daughter to a local police station to report a disturbing incident. According to authorities, the child alleged that around 7:00 a.m. that day, her father had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

Following the report, the child was taken for a medical examination, which confirmed that she had been carnally known.

Police say the suspect remains in custody as they continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. No formal charges have been announced yet.
