FBI Offers $100K Reward in Manhunt for Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk’s Killer
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a “reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) in the murder” of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
The FBI released images of a person of interest earlier on Thursday. The individual, wearing a cap and sunglasses, was seen on campus security footage shortly before the shooting.
Kirk, 31, was gruesomely shot once from a rooftop on Wednesday while addressing an outdoor crowd of more than 3,000 people. It was later confirmed that he died.
Investigators recovered a Mauser bolt-action rifle along the suspect’s escape route. According to ABC News, three unspent cartridges were found with “transgender and anti-fascist” wording. The weapon has been sent to FBI laboratories for forensic analysis.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the killing a “political assassination” and pledged, “We will catch this individual.”
“I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah,” said President Donald Trump on Wednesday. Trump described the incident as a “dark moment for America,” adding that “violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonising those with whom you disagree.”
“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organisations that funded and supported,” Trump added.
