Fiery Coastal Road Crash Claims Ramzi Asaad

A forty-three-year-old Belize City man lost his life on Friday after his car slammed into a turning trailer truck and burst into flames on the Coastal Road.

Police say Ramzi Asaad was driving the car when it crashed into the trailer, which was being operated by Hector Morales. Investigators served Morales with a Notice of Intended Prosecution and obtained a urine sample as they work to determine whether he will face charges.

“On Friday, police responded to a road traffic accident on the Coastal Road. Upon their arrival, they saw a trailer truck and a car that were involved in an accident. The car was completely burnt. Information is that Hector Morales was driving the trailer truck when he made a turn and then the car ran into the trailer. The driver of the car was identified as Ramzi Asaad, forty-three years old, of Belize City. A [Notice of Intended Prosecution] was served on Hector [Morales] and a urine sample was obtained. An investigation will be carried out to determine if any charges will be levied.”
