Fifteen-Year-Old Murdered Weeks Before Christmas

Fifteen-year-old Eric David Reyes was shot and murdered late Monday night in front of his home on Park Street, Belize City.

Initial investigations report that Reyes was riding his bicycle home when several shots were heard in the area. He was later found motionless on the street and transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to information gathered by News Five, Reyes lived with his paralysed mother. He had previously attended Saint Ignatius Primary School but was not enrolled in any school at the time of his death.

Police released a report in which they extended condolences to the family, while adding, “We condemn this senseless act and remain firm in our zero-tolerance stance against violence in our communities…Together, we must protect our children and our nation’s future.”

Police investigations are ongoing, and more details are expected to follow.
