Firefighters Honoured for Decades of Service

Twenty-one members of the National Fire Service were honoured Friday for completing between 10 and 25 years of service in a ceremony organised by the Ministry of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management.

The Long Service Awards which was held in Belmopan recognised firefighters and officers across multiple ranks. Seven firefighters received awards for 10 years of service, while three officers were honoured for 15 years, including two radio-telephone operators and a finance officer. Four leading firefighters were recognised for 20 years, and seven senior officers marked 25 years of service, among them station officers, a substation officer, a radio-telephone operator, and an assistant fire chief.

Minister Henry Charles Usher praised the recipients for their discipline and sacrifice, noting that fire personnel routinely place themselves in danger to protect lives and property.
