Five Children Left Without Father After Fatal Dangriga Shooting
Five children in Dangriga are without their father after a fatal shooting in the Riverside area on Friday night.
Thirty-nine-year-old Fisherman Bernaldo “Sparrow” Gorosica was shot multiple times in what initial reports describe as a targeted attack. Residents reported hearing up to ten gunshots.
Gorosica was left dead at the scene.
His common-law wife, Shantel Waight, said the family was at home when she received the report of the shooting. “We had like 10 years together. This man da wa happy man, he always had a smile pan fi he face, so I don’t understand how they wa could tek fi he life just like that,” Waight said.
Gorosica’s sister, Monique Gorosica, said the family is seeking justice rather than retaliation. “For us, vengeance is not ours… vengeance is for the Lord. And whether we get earthly justice or not, which I wish we do, I know that the God that we serve is not asleep.”
Police have not announced any arrests. According to police reports, several leads are being followed.
“He had five kids, two daughters and three sons weh he love,” Waight said. “We would really want justice because this is unfair for me and my kids. Now, right now, my baby them di tell me ‘Ma, I no wa see my daddy again? Ma, I don’t have no daddy again?’ Unu noh know how unu hurt my heart.”
