She is only five years old, and her family says she is still dealing with the pain of being knocked down during the midday rush near her school. Relatives say a motorcycle struck the child inside a designated safe zone near Santa Elena Primary School, leaving her with injuries to her face, head and legs. Days later, she continues to complain of headaches and pain in her eyes. Her family says police took a report, but no charges have been brought against the fifteen-year-old rider allegedly involved. Now, the child’s aunt is speaking out, demanding accountability and tougher enforcement to prevent another family from going through the same ordeal.

On the Phone: Aunt of RTA Victim

“I saw the cycle about to hit her, and I shouted for her. But by the time I shouted for her, she was already up in the air, flipping over the motorcycle, flipping over the handlebars, and flipping over the driver’s hand. And when she land, she landed on the ground, and she actually hit it. From there, I scolded this young man. I told him, “Why is he driving in a safe zone and at that speed and so so driving so fast?” He just stopped a little while and from there take straight off. Just looked, looked at me and take straight off. And another person actually saw when he stopped a bit, a distance away to check his motorcycle.  I didn’t press further issues on him due to the fact that I was busy trying to see what exactly happened to my niece, if she’s actually still alive or what exactly, because where she got hit was near her temple, not too far from her eye socket area and not too far from her temple. She got hit, and from there she still have bulging bruise. Other students actually was actually with a crowd that she was running across. And  other students had to disperse at the same time when the cycle came. Just that my niece was the unfortunate one to be hit by the cycle.”

The family says their concerns have grown after the teen allegedly involved was seen riding a motorcycle days after the incident, and they are now calling for justice for the injured child.
