Five-Year Schengen Visas Now Available to Belizeans
Here’s an exciting Update for Belizean Travelers to Europe, getting a Schengen visa just got a whole lot easier. A Schengen visa is a short-stay pass that allows a person to travel to and within the Schengen Area, a zone of twenty-nine European countries with no internal border controls. The Government of Belize is celebrating a major win after the European Commission approved a visa cascade for Belizean nationals with biometric passports, whether regular, official, or diplomatic. So, what does that mean? Well, Belizeans applying at Schengen embassies in Guatemala or Mexico can now qualify for five-year multiple-entry visas. That’s right, no more repeat applications every few months. If your biometric passport is valid, you’re good to go. This is the most generous visa arrangement the EU offers to any third country, and it speaks volumes about the strong relationship between Belize and the European Union. It also shows that Belizean travelers aren’t seen as a security concern. Foreign Affairs Minister Francis Fonseca received the official word, and the government says this move will boost tourism, business, education, and family connections across borders.
