Fonseca Meets Newly Accredited Palestine Ambassador
Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca has met with the newly accredited Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Belize, Nadya L. Rasheed. Fonseca welcomed her during the presentation of her credentials and held talks focused on the situation in the Gaza Strip and on expanding cooperation.
Both countries reaffirmed their friendly relations and solidarity at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
The meeting came shortly after Belize voted in favour of a United Nations resolution that sets out “tangible, timebound, and irreversible steps” towards the creation of an independent State of Palestine.
The resolution passed with 142 votes in favour, 10 against, and 12 abstentions.
Meanwhile, the United States and Israel rejected the resolution.
The war in Gaza has killed nearly 65,000 and injured more than 164,000, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
