Fort George Hotel Says Armed Robbery Did Not Occur on Hotel Premises

Fort George Hotel & Spa has issued a statement clarifying reports of an armed robbery linked to the Fort George area, stressing that the incident did not occur on hotel property and did not involve guests.

The clarification follows police investigations into a robbery reported Wednesday evening in Belize City. Reports say two armed men dressed in black entered an office facility near the Fort George area and robbed a female employee.

The 33-year-old accounts payable clerk reported that the suspects, armed with 9mm pistols, demanded money, tied her up in another office, and escaped with a cash pan containing nine thousand Belize dollars, her purse, personal documents, and two Samsung cell phones.

In response to media reports linking the crime to the hotel, Fort George Hotel & Spa issued a statement stressing that the incident did not involve guests or hotel operations. “The incident referenced in recent media coverage did not occur within the Fort George Hotel & Spa premises. It took place at a separate office facility in the vicinity that is not part of the hotel’s guest areas or operations,” the statement read.

The hotel further stated that “our operations and guest areas were not impacted, and guest safety was never compromised.”

Police investigations into the robbery remain ongoing.
