Gang Affiliate Shot Outside Home on East Canal

Gunfire erupted near East Canal late this afternoon, leaving one man injured. The victim has been identified as Jahmy Belgrave, a resident of that area. Reports are that Belgrave was shot right in front of his home and quickly rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by police officers on mobile patrol. Belgrave is no stranger to law enforcement; he’s been linked to the George Street Gang and has had previous run-ins with the law. Back in 2015, when he was just eighteen, Belgrave was charged in connection with a robbery at Cenies Restaurant. At the time, police intercepted the suspects and recovered the stolen cash register with money inside. Tonight, investigators are trying to determine what led to this latest attack and whether it’s connected to ongoing gang rivalries in the city.
