Global Glamour Meets Controversy at Miss Universe 74
Drama is already unfolding at the seventy-fourth annual Miss Universe pageant and it’s just getting started. On Tuesday, things took a sharp turn when a sashing event turned sour. Several contestants, including Belize’s own Isabella Zabaneh, walked out in solidarity after a heated confrontation between a Thai pageant director and Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch. It all started when the director, who also happens to be a VP for the Miss Universe Organization, publicly called out Bosch for missing a sponsored shoot earlier in the day. But it didn’t end there. Witnesses say he went as far as calling her ‘dumb’ in front of others. Security was called, Bosch walked off set, and in a powerful show of support, other delegates followed, including the reigning Miss Universe. The Miss Universe Belize Foundation quickly issued a statement confirming that Isabella is safe, healthy, and standing strong. They say she remains focused on representing Belize with dignity and grace. Meanwhile, the fallout is still unfolding, and in an unexpected turn of events, at least twelve countries, including Fiji, Somalia, Kenya, and Mongolia, have reportedly withdrawn from the competition. What’s really going on behind the scenes? We’ll be keeping a close eye.
