Government Distributes $135,000 for September Celebrations

Preparations for Belize’s forty-fifth Independence celebrations are moving into the final stretch. The National Celebrations Commission held its final meeting on Wednesday with Chairman Francis Fonseca. Once again, municipalities across the country are getting financial support to help with their local celebrations. Fonseca presented contributions from the National Celebrations Commission to the mayors of Belize’s nine municipalities. Each municipality receives fifteen thousand dollars, totaling one hundred and thirty-five thousand dollars in support. The money will assist local councils with planning and executing National Celebrations activities in their communities. The Commission says the funding recognizes the important role municipalities play in bringing the spirit of Belize to Belizeans across the country as the nation prepares to celebrate forty-five years of independence.
