Guatemalan Barber Gunned Down in Bella Vista
Police in Bella Vista are investigating the fatal shooting of Marcus Che, a 35-year-old Guatemalan national who was gunned down inside his barbershop on Saturday morning.
According to ASP Stacy Smith, the incident occurred around 11:47 a.m. when an unknown man wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet entered the establishment and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding Che. “The male person who arrived at the establishment on a motorcycle subsequently made good his escape.”
Police have since detained one individual believed to be able to assist with the investigation and are reviewing surveillance footage that may provide critical evidence.
While no motive has been confirmed, Smith said investigators are pursuing multiple leads. “No motive has been conclusively identified. However, we are following up on a number of theories.”
The shooting has reignited concerns in the Bella Vista community, which has seen a rise in violent incidents, reportedly linked to drug trafficking. Smith stated, “Whenever we notice that there is an increase of incidents, or even when intelligence suggests that there may be an increase of incidents, there are certain operational efforts that we put into place.”
