Boston Logging Case Awaits Legal Advice
So, when will there be an update on who will be charged for illegal logging in Boston Village and what charges will be levied if any at all? Minister Habet says the department is consulting with its legal team.
Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development
“The Forest Department has sought the assistance from our legal counsel. All that has been worked out. They’re going to be leaving charges. I can’t tell you what it is now, but that has happened. And on the positive side, I think that the material that was taken out of Boston Village, , the chairperson and his village council have asked us to consider that they get some of those materials. They can’t get it free of cost because it costs, they have to pay the royalty and maybe a small cost that has to be placed to it. But they will be given some of the materials for them to have the opportunity to do maybe the replenishment or refurbishment of their village council building. Maybe the repairs to the schools or whatever it is, the church, whatever it is that they come to the church, whatever they can use it for, positively.”
