Hands-On Robotics Workshop Prepares Future Engineers
On Saturday, the Ministry of E-Governance joined forces with the Belize Robotics Federation for an exciting, full-day robotics training at the Fort George Digital Connect Center. Students from Belize High School and Saint Catherine Academy rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on experience building and testing robots, skills that could shape Belize’s next generation of engineers and innovators. They worked with the VEX CTE Workcell and the VEX ClawBot, tools designed to teach automation, engineering, and problem-solving, critical skills for today’s job market. The initiative had strong backing from Minister Henry Charles Usher and CEO Jose Urbina, who made sure the center was fully equipped for this national training launch. The Belize Robotics Federation, led by President Jamie Usher and her team, plans to expand this program to Digital Connect Centers across the country, training local champions to lead safe and consistent robotics sessions. It’s all part of Plan Belize 2.0, focusing on digital inclusion and hands-on learning. And with support from VEX partners David Feeney and Eli Osornio, Belizean youth are getting the technical guidance they need to thrive in a tech-driven world.
