Happy Hearts Funday Brings Joy to Children in Care
More than two hundred children in care spent a day filled with laughter, games and sunshine during the “Happy Hearts Funday” hosted by the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs.
The event, organized through the Department of Human Services, took place at Rendezvous Caye and welcomed 255 children from residential care homes and government facilities across the country. They were supported by 130 caregivers, social workers and staff members who helped make the day safe and enjoyable.
Children from AIM Belize, Hope Haven, Hopewell Children’s Home, Liberty Children’s Home, Marla’s House of Hope and Laugh Out Loud Children’s Home joined residents from Coral Grove, Mile 14 and the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Centre for the special island trip.
The day was packed with activities. The children enjoyed swimming, kite flying, volleyball and interactive games. There was also a water slide, bouncy house, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones. Friendly competitions and prize giveaways added even more excitement.
Minister Thea Garcia-Ramirez was present for the event, greeting the children and spending time interacting with them and their caregivers.
The Belize Coast Guard and the Fisheries Department of Belize assisted with transportation and safety, helping to ensure the excursion ran smoothly.
