Have Police Gathered All Footage of Alleged Budna Kidnapping?
The investigation into Joseph Budna’s alleged abduction is ongoing, but many questions remain. Budna, who has filed a lawsuit against the government and law enforcement, claims he was beaten and taken to Guatemala without due process, accusing officials of unlawful arrest and torture. The public has repeatedly called for the release of surveillance footage from the night of the incident, but so far, these requests have gone unanswered. Today, we asked Acting Commissioner of Police Bart Jones whether footage has been collected from all nearby government buildings. Here’s his response.
Bart Jones, Acting Commissioner of Police
“In respect to the footages and so on, I have not been interfering with the investigation, so I will not be able to say what or Ms. Anderson have seen or not have seen at this point. And so I personally have not seen any, but I would not be able to say that we have not gotten, or whether we have confirmed that we have got all the footages or what the case may be.”

“Okay. But to your knowledge, has the police department been seeking all of the footage for the investigation? You might not have seen them, but do you know if they were seeking them?”
Bart Jones
“Whenever a crime occurs, so this take for example, last night, two young couple was shot in PG while they slept, like with that crime, we are looking at that era to see whatever footage is available to help investigate the matter. And I believe that similar with this case we’ll look at, so that’s what we do on a regular basis.”
