Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Belize City

Heavy rain overnight has caused flooding in parts of Belize City, with reports of water entering several homes.

Rain began late on Friday and continued into Saturday morning. Residents have shared images and videos showing flooded streets and water entering houses in low-lying areas.

The National Meteorological Service of Belize said conditions remain unsettled. It forecast sunny spells mixed with cloudy periods during the day, with showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly along coastal areas in the morning and over the south later tonight.

It added, “Cloudy periods with scattered showers are expected across most areas on Sunday, then mostly over the coast Sunday night.”
