‘His Priority Was Music’: Belizean Artist Killed in US
Belizean music artist Anfernee “Big Bang” Pollard was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday during what local reports are saying is a domestic dispute at his residence.
Reports are that the 31-year-old and a woman were targeted by the woman’s ex-partner.
Authorities in the United States continue to investigate and have reported that the incident was alerted to the police by a 10-year-old child at the residence.
Pollard was well known in Belize’s entertainment scene and had moved to the US for several years to continue building his music career there.
News 5 spoke with Pollard’s brother, Allan Pollard, who described him as a driven and grounded individual.
“Everybody weh know Bang, knows of him, knows him personally, know that Bang wasn’t a trouble man; solid youth, very focused, very ambitious,” Allan said. “His priority has always been his career.”
Several friends, family members, and fans have taken to social media to mourn Pollard’s death and reflect on his impact on Belize’s music space.
“Big Bang Manifest took Belize by storm with a sound and energy that couldn’t be ignored. Through hits like Cocaina and Classy, he carved his name into the culture and gave fans music that will live far beyond his time,” one said. “Though he has passed, his voice, his hustle, and his impact remain larger than life. Belize won’t forget the wave he created, a true artist whose legacy will keep playing on.”
This remains a developing story. Full details tonight on News 5 Live at 6 o’clock.
