“I Just Feel Lost”: Eugene Thompson Breaks Down in Emotional Livestream 

In a twelve-minute livestream, Eugene Thompson broke down in tears as he described what it feels like to have nowhere to sleep after losing his home. 

“Anybody who would see me out there riding around would ah thing I happy, but i noh happy bout nothing,” Thompson said. “I got food and can’t eat it, can’t do nothing. I just feel lost.”

Thompson has been getting temporary shelter from neighbors after a fire gutted his Belama residence on Tuesday.

“I got food and can’t eat it, can’t do nothing. I just feel lost,” Thompson said. As he walked towards the fire-damaged property during the livestream, he described it as “pure shambles, pure nothing.” 

He said. “I have no where to stay. Everybody have emotions, and I have to walk back to my house right now and look at something i called home… pure shambles, pure nothing. How am i supposed to feel as a man?”

He criticised the court system that ordered him out of the property one day before the fire, saying, ““This system [is messed up], the system just want to put you inna pain. I will be honest with you, this is pain to watch something you once called home… I am tired of it, I am tired of feeling bitter, I am tired of feeling bad,” he added, “I’ve never needed nothing from anybody, i just tried to live a life, an honest life.”

Thompson was ordered to leave the property for 15 days amid a dispute with his former common-law partner, Ashema Chang.

Police have since issued a wanted poster for Chang, seeking her for questioning in connection with the fire.

Thompson says Human Services offered temporary accommodation, but he wants help rebuilding his home.
