Iran Says It ‘Will Not Bow’ to U.S. and Israel
The war between Iran, Israel, and the United States is widening across the Middle East as fresh attacks strike oil facilities, cities, and critical infrastructure, reported Al Jazeera.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that Tehran will not yield to pressure from Washington or Tel Aviv, according to The Guardian.
“When we are attacked, we have no choice but to respond. The more pressure they impose on us, the stronger our response will naturally be,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday. “Our Iran, our country, will not bow easily in the face of bullying, oppression or aggression, and it never has.”
Israeli strikes hit an oil storage facility in Tehran. CNN’s team filmed from the depot as several storage tanks were still ablaze. It is believed to be the first time an industrial civilian facility in the capital has been targeted during the conflict.
At the same time, Iran launched missiles and drones towards several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Authorities reported damage to a desalination plant in Bahrain. These facilities supply drinking water to millions in the desert region.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the military campaign would continue “for a little while”.
The conflict has already killed more than 1,200 people in Iran, over 300 in Lebanon, and several in Israel. Global markets are reacting as oil prices surge and fears grow over the security of the vital Strait of Hormuz, which is a critically important oil artery, with roughly 20-30% of global oil consumption passing through it daily.
