Jahreem ‘32’ Staine Dodges Bullets Twice; Now on Police Radar

Police are on the hunt tonight for a twenty-two-year-old man at the center of two brazen daylight shootings in Belize City. The target was Jahreem ‘32’ Staine. The first attempt happened on September third, right after Staine walked out of the Belize City Magistrates Court. Moments later, gunfire erupted on Coney Drive, nearly thirty shots were fired in his direction. Miraculously, he walked away without a scratch. Fast forward to last Friday: a blue Chevy Equinox cruising along the Phillip Goldson Highway came under heavy fire, this time, up to fifty shells were left scattered on the ground. Police say the gunmen were after Staine again. Now, authorities have issued a wanted poster for Staine. They want to question him as part of an ongoing investigation. And here’s an important detail, back in June, Staine and Eric Frazer were charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of Jimmy Rojas in Belize City.

“From our information, the target may have been in that vehicle and may have been in a vehicle that on the previous incident, which was also by a school, certainly raised concerns. And we have, we have given certain tasking to our intelligence and Gang Intervention Unit to try and see how we could address that in particular, in respect to that person.”

“Now, this person is Jahreem Staine, aka 32. I know law enforcement had their eyes on him since he was released from prison. But difficult, challenging people, it is not everyone who wants to play by the rules. Might it be pass the situation where mediation will work?”

“We are looking at all angles. This afternoon we will be looking at whatever files we have or ongoing investigation against that individual to see if we can prefer charges against him and other gang members. That is one aspect. We are not going to throw mediation out the door. So we will have a discussion with LIU and LIU is going to work to see how we can mediate this situation. So we are not going to leave it at one prong to say give up and say there is a need for drastic police action. We are going to, from all fronts, look at the situation.”
