Jerome Palma is New SSB CEO

The Social Security Board (SSB) has announced the appointment of Jerome Palma as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Palma assumes the top leadership role after serving as Acting CEO since February 2025 and Deputy CEO since October 2024.

A statement from the SSB says that Palma brings extensive experience in executive leadership, risk management, organisational governance, and investment strategies.

A graduate of Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Palma holds a Master of Science in Actuarial Science and a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics from the University College of Belize. He is also an Associate Actuary of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK. His academic and professional background in actuarial science, risk management, and corporate governance positions him to lead the SSB in achieving financial sustainability and operational efficiency.

He takes over from Dr. Leroy Almendarez, who unexpectedly left the role after a short stint. Dr. Almendarez is now the CEO in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics.
