A terrifying moment on the waters off Ambergris Caye nearly turned deadly, but one man is lucky to be alive. Jeffrey Molina had just refueled a jet ski when it suddenly exploded, sending him flying into the sea in a ball of flames. Miraculously, he escaped with only minor injuries.

“On Saturday fourteenth June at approximately ten thirty a.m.. police responded to reports of an explosion in the lagoon by Gas and Go Gas Station in San Mateo area San Pedro. The initial investigation revealed that the operator of the jet ski, Jefrey Molina had just refueled the jet ski and shortly thereafter there was an explosion which cause him to be flung into the water. The jet ski drifted a bit and subsequently caught fire. Fire personnel were summoned to the scene. He received minor injuries.”
