KHMH CBA Negotiations Are Finally Underway, Again!

For years, negotiations between the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and its workers’ union have been stuck in a cycle of meetings, disagreements and delays. In February 2023, government stepped in and both sides agreed to put everything else aside and complete a Collective Bargaining Agreement within six months. That six-month deadline has now stretched to more than three and a half years. Today, with a new KHMH CEO and a new union executive at the table, hospital management says the negotiations are finally moving forward. Sherine Reyes explains where the process stands now.

“We’ve went back to the table with the new executive and under my leadership and the new administration team, and we’ve went over the framework. We’ve set together our team, and we’ve, um, liaised with who we needed to liaise with to, to start. It is something new for, for us here at KHMH since it’s the first time that we’ll be looking at something to this. So we’re, we’re looking for a good outcome with this and working together to ensure that we do what’s best for the institution and the staff. It’s to ensure that the staff get what they deserve. So that, that is our ultimate goal and I think that is also the goal of the union. But we also have to look at the administrative aspect and to see, and to ensure that it’s affordable because it’s – we’re always looking at increase when we’re looking at that type of negotiation. So it’s for a favorable return to staff so that their morale could remain at the top.”

 

Among list of demands from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority Workers Union is a twenty percent salary increase.
