Land Clinic Tackles Squatting Concerns in Belize City

Squatting continues to be a growing concern in Belize City, particularly in Belama Phases Four and Five. A recent two-day land clinic, hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the PUP Freetown Office, addressed issues affecting nearly three hundred residents. Minister Fonseca said the initiative was productive, helping first-time landowners while making clear that squatters cannot claim land already legally allocated. Deputy Prime Minister Hyde also participated, assisting in resolving many of the community’s concerns. The clinic highlights the ongoing tension over land rights and the government’s efforts to manage this longstanding challenge.
