Leaked UDP Messages Show a Party in Meltdown
The UDP heads into its national convention already in turmoil. Leaked WhatsApp messages obtained by News 5 show delegates accusing each other of betrayal, greed, and tearing apart any remaining chance at unity.
The screenshots capture a fiery clash inside a delegates’ group chat. Members attacked each other over their pick for today’s crucial vote for party chairman. Others warned the infighting was humiliating the party and crippling its chances of ever reaching the long-promised goal of “unity.”
One delegate wrote, “The backstabbing and greed for power have been nauseating. Dog eat wi suppa if soh ah deh win.”
The dispute erupted after Mesopotamia area representative Lee Mark Chang publicly endorsed Roosevelt Blades for chairman. His stance triggered an immediate backlash in the group chat, with some accusing him of deepening the divide.
Today’s convention will see the party endorse its first woman leader, but the real battle is for the chairmanship. Roosevelt Blades, Sheena Pitts, and John Saldivar are all vying for the role.
The leaked messages show just how fractured their support base continues to be.
“At this rate how do we come out of tomorrow united?” another said.
Chang defended his endorsement, saying, “Sad is I am not entitled to my opinion and get attacked for it. Sad da only pro Tracy can voice their opinion and the others need to keep quiet or get ridiculed and attacked”
The UDP’s chairmanship race remains the party’s most explosive fault line. The party is now battling the optics of internal collapse, once again.
