Leni Ysaguirre McGann No Longer FIU Director

Leni Ysaguirre McGann is no longer the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). The unexpected announcement was made a few minutes ago via a press statement.

The statement read, “This communication serves as official notification that Mrs. Leni Ysaguirre McGann is no longer the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), effective July 31st, 2025.”

Taking over the role as of August 4, 2025, is Marilyn Gardiner-Usher. According to the FIU, she brings extensive experience in financial intelligence, anti-money laundering, and regulatory compliance.

According to the statement, under her direction, the FIU aims to continue enhancing Belize’s regulatory framework and to ensure the country is fully prepared for the upcoming 5th Round Mutual Evaluation Process.

“With strong leadership and a deep commitment to serve, she is well-positioned to lead the FIU through its next phase of strategic development and institutional strengthening. Under her leadership, the FIU will continue to strengthen its regulatory framework and ensure that Belize remains fully prepared for the upcoming 5th Round Mutual Evaluation Process.”
