Louis Matthews Charged with Kaylon David’s Murder
Less than a week after seventeen-year-old Kaylon Trevor David was gunned down on Iguana Street Extension, police have charged a twenty-one-year-old man with his murder.

Kaylon Trevor David
Louis Matthews, a handyman from the same area, appeared unrepresented before a senior magistrate in Belize City this afternoon. Prosecutors allege that Matthews shot David several times as the teenager walked along Iguana Street Extension around six-thirty last Thursday evening. David was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Because murder is an indictable offence, the court did not take a plea and remanded Matthews to the Belize Central Prison. Before leaving the courtroom, Matthews asked for a summary of the allegations against him. Police believe the deadly shooting may have followed an ongoing rivalry involving threats between David and others in the neighborhood.
