Caye Caulker Confrontation Violent: One Shot, One Charged

A hotel dispute on Caye Caulker turned violent last week and now a well-known businessman is facing serious charges. Police say forty-five-year-old Junming Zhao fired a single shot inside the Enjoy Hotel on Passero Street, hitting his ex’s new common-law husband in the leg. Thankfully, the victim was treated and released from the hospital. Zhao has been charged with using deadly means of harm and wounding. So, what sparked this attack? ASP Stacy Smith breaks down what investigators believe was the motive.

“These charges stem from police’s investigation into a shooting incident. That occurred on Monday 15th December at 1:15 PM at the Enjoy Hotel, which is located on Passero Street in Keka. What the investigators have gathered so far is that it is alleged that Z went to that property and produced his license firearm and fired a single shot to the leg of Chen. Chen was escorted to the hospital for treatment where the doctor classified his injury as wounding and Zhao was later apprehended by the police.”
