Mahler Unveils Vision for Revamped Marion Jones Complex

The master plan is still in the works, but Minister of Sport, Anthony Mahler and his junior minister have a vision to turn the Marion Jones Sporting Complex into a sporting hub. Today Minister Mahler cast a vision of a revamped complex that includes a softball field, tennis courts, rock climbing and pickleball. He also shared an update on ongoing works at the MCC Grounds.

“We are looking at it. We have some experts that have come in and look at it. They believe synthetic pitch would be better out here rather than grass, a natural grass and the natural grass will remain at MCC.”

“Time frame, price, source of funds?”

Anthony Mahler

“We are working on those things, and you will know when the time is right.”

“You realize how deliberately vague. I know you are a man who delivers but when politicians are deliberately vague it means that nothing will happen.”

Anthony Mahler

“You want to bet? Like I said this is going to be a sporting hub. We are looking at another softball field to see how it can fit. We are looking at rock climbing. We are looking at pickle balls or whatever it is. Just a few minutes ago I told you I came out of a meeting looking at a master plan for MCC and Rogers Stadium. We will do the field over as priority. We are going to break down the old building and put up new facilities. But you know these things take time and money.”

Reporter

“Are you able to speak about the price of the fences at the MCC?”

Anthony Mahler

“I think about the time we are finished, both of them will cost around four hundred, half a million dollars and the demolition of all the bleachers out there.”
