Man Alleges Police Harassment After Repeated Detention
A Lord’s Bank resident is accusing police of harassment after being detained as part of a robbery investigation and later released without charge.
33-year-old Anthony Dennison says he spent the weekend in custody and was never told why he was being held. He claims this is not the first time police have targeted him during criminal probes and says the experience has left him fearful.
“Honestly I really tired of it until lately, I notice da from threats we di get,” Dennison said. “One ah di officer wa threaten that before the year done, me or one ah my brethren wa dead. And I no really tek ney threat deh really light because unu da officer, unu have all authority, unu could come inna my house, do weh unu want. I no really got no privacy, nothing.”
Dennison said he provided proof that he was not involved in the robbery. “I show them my video camera, I de da shop when the crime happen, my lawyer give it in,” he said.
Despite this, he claims police detained him.
Now released, Dennison says he is installing cameras at his home for protection. “You show ney that and you still end up get ker,” he added.
