Man Drowns on Christmas Day in Caledonia Village
Police are investigating the apparent drowning of a 52-year-old man in Caledonia Village on Christmas Day.
ASP Stacy Smith said officers responded to a report shortly after midday. “On Thursday, 25th December, at approximately 12:30 PM, acting upon a report of an apparent drowning in Caledonia Village, police proceeded to a riverbank in that village where they observed the motionless body of a male person.”
The man was identified as Eliodoro Moh, a 52-year-old Belizean labourer of Caledonia Village.
“What the investigators have ascertained so far is that Moh left his home sometime around 10:30 AM, and at that time he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol,” Smith said.
The body was removed, and efforts were made to revive him, but those attempts were unsuccessful.
The Caledonia Village Council extended condolences to the family in a statement, saying, “We express our deepest condolences for the sensitive passing of Don Eliodoro Moh, best known in the community as Chiks, or Rambo. We recognise and value his person, very hardworking, and the mark he leaves among those of us who had the honour of knowing him.”
The body now awaits a post-mortem examination, with a funeral procession scheduled for December 30.
