Tonight, Bullet Tree Falls remains on high alert after a man was tied up and robbed in his own home. The incident occurred this morning around two a.m. when thirty-eight-year-old Roger Reimer entered his home on Iguana Belly Road and was ambushed by two male persons, one of whom was armed with a pistol. This incident marks the second major crime incident in that neighborhood this year. Back in August, Ulric Willoughby, a sixty-year-old real estate agent was killed inside his home in the Vanilla Hill area when gunmen reportedly opened fire from just outside the door. “Are you able to say, I know they stole a small amount of cash, relatively small amount of cash on the vehicle, but is there any clarity on if it was a robbery for the purpose of sealing the vehicle? We know that area is very close to Guatemala, and so vehicles are often stolen and there to sell on the other side, or was it just a home invasion where they were looking for anything to take?”
ASP Stacy Smith
“We have not been able to conclusively down on a position. However, as you rightfully said, it is common for a vehicle theft in that area to be with a view of taking across the border, and that is the reason why several operational efforts were put in place and are still underway.”
