Mayor Wagner Calls on Residents to Help Rewrite Liquor Rules

If you’ve ever complained about noise from a nearby bar or wondered how liquor licenses are approved, the Ministry of Local Government wants to hear from you. The ministry is bringing its proposed liquor licensing reforms to Belize City next week, giving residents, business owners and event promoters a chance to weigh in on changes aimed at tackling issues like excessive noise, open-air bars, operating hours and fairness in the licensing process. Mayor Bernard Wagner says public consultation is part of a nationwide effort to ensure communities help shape the rules that affect them. Here’s more on that initiative.

“Again, with the liquor license reform is a local government-driven initiative being conducted across the entire country. And so Belize City is one of those stop, and that will be on next week Tuesday at the House of Culture, right, at six o clock I believe. But it’s an opportunity for, for residents to come out and really engage and be a stakeholder in this reform in respect to liquor licensing.”
