“It was issued based on what was happening yesterday at the time of issuance, as was seen what was happening across the country, we were receiving heavy downpours and thunderstorms. That system dumped four to six inches of rainfall, especially over south and central parts of the country. That activity has since died down. We had a few more this morning, just not as severe. Going forward we should see improving weather conditions for the next three to four days. That does not mean there will not be a thunderstorm. There should not be as severe and intense as we have been experiencing over the past few days. We currently have two tropical cyclones. We have Hurricane Gabriel which has been out there for a while and at one point was even a major hurricane. It has since been downgraded. Tropical Storm Humberto has formed which is moving in a west, northwestern direction. The forecast for that system is for it to move somewhere between Bermuda and the U.S. coast and for it to be well to the north of us. Both these system pose no threat to Belize. There is also another wave being monitored that high chance of becoming a tropical depression or a tropical storm in a few days. That is also forecast to move north west. The good news is that even though the season is becoming more active, we are currently under no threat. We are still in the hurricane season and we even though we don’t expect anything within the next three to five days we don’t know what will happen. So we need to remain vigilant.”
