Mexico Floods Leave 47 Dead, Dozens Missing

At least 47 people are dead and dozens missing after torrential rains triggered deadly floods and landslides across some states in Mexico. The Mexican Army, Air Force, and National Guard are transporting supplies and emergency materials to deliver food parcels and bottled water to the areas most affected and without water and electricity.

The deadly downpours were due to two powerful tropical systems, Hurricane Priscilla and Tropical Storm Raymond, which battered Mexico’s western coast before dissipating.

Veracruz reported 18 deaths, Hidalgo 16, and Puebla 12, according to local news reports.

President Claudia Sheinbaum visited flood-hit towns on Sunday.

Civil Protection confirmed 38 people are still missing. Rescue crews are working to evacuate residents and deliver food and medical care.

In some parts of Veracruz, flooding reached more than 12 feet after rivers burst their banks.
