Midday Motorcycle Accident Seriously Injures Father and Child
There was another road traffic accident involving a motorcycle that resulted in serious injuries today. This time, a man and child were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial after running into a van at the corner of Youth for the Future Drive and Ebony Street. It is an image seen far too often, a badly damaged motorcycle jammed into the side of a vehicle. After hearing a loud bang followed by cries for help, people in the Youth for the Future area rushed to assist. While waiting for an ambulance, they provided first aid and critical assistance to the man and child bleeding on the side of the street. The driver of the van was trapped inside the vehicle with the cycle pinned to her door. We spoke with her shortly after being freed from the vehicle.

“I just pray for the father and the child that they actually will be well. That they recover, especially for the child that he noh get no major hurt and that he also would not be traumatized from this, that he will recover and this will not be something lasting for him. I just pray for peace for that child and that father that they will be well, that they will recover fully. I know I did see the father got a cut on his hand, so I pray that he also, that would not cause him much trauma, but that he will surely recover fully from that and it won’t have any effect on his life going forward.”

“I know it’s also difficult for you and your kids and what were you trying to calm them down during this time?”

“Prayer. So we, it’s my two nieces with me today and my father. And the younger one was a little bit traumatized, but we just pray and God just give us peace. She’s okay now. So thank God none of us in there is hurt. But I also know it’s a, it’s an experience for them also. They have never been in an accident before. It saddens me that something like this actually happened to us and them so I just pray that we will be able to go through the whole process on a neutral basis and that whoever at fault would be able to, we’d be able to come together, sit and, whosever is truly in fault will take responsibility and then we go through.”
According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the driver of the motorcycle suffered a severe injury to the forearm and the minor, who was not wearing a helmet, was bleeding from the head. Police have not yet provided an official report on this accident and update on their condition. The driver was served with a notice of intended prosecution.
