Military Action on Iran ‘Held Off’ as Trump Cites Diplomatic Push

U.S. President Donald Trump says he will “hold off” on a planned military strike against Iran that was expected to take place Tuesday.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he made the decision after receiving requests from leaders in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, who urged him to allow ongoing negotiations more time.

He said those leaders believe there is a “serious” chance of reaching an agreement that could be acceptable to the United States and other countries in the Middle East.

He said he has instructed U.S. military and senior defence officials to be “prepared to go forward with a full, large-scale assault” on Iran “on a moment’s notice” if no deal is reached.

The proposed agreement is expected to focus heavily on Iran’s nuclear program, with U.S. officials insisting that Tehran must not retain the ability to develop nuclear weapons.

Tensions between the two sides have been building for months. Trump has previously warned Iran that time is running out to reach an agreement while also signalling that military operations could resume if diplomacy fails.

The conflict has also had wider economic consequences, contributing to rising fuel prices and growing concern over global stability.
