Miss Earth Belize’s Pageant Week Officially Kicks Off

Miss Earth Belize 2026 is officially underway. Organisers today launched pageant week and introduced four delegates who will compete for the national crown and the opportunity to represent Belize at the international Miss Earth competition. 

Finance Director of the Miss Earth Belize Foundation Limited, Wendy Castillo, said the pageant is about much more than beauty. “It is an international platform that empowers women to use their voices and influence to protect our planet,” Castillo said. 

The winner will be crowned Saturday, August 8, at the Belize City Civic Center.

The four delegates each presented distinct environmental advocacies. Gwendolyn Galvez is pushing an “eco-culture movement” focused on integrating conservation into everyday life, while Vashti Thompson, a biologist, is advocating for community-driven conservation. 

Meanwhile, Heavenly Bradley is promoting reuse under the banner “You take care of the environment, the environment takes care of you.” And, Kendall Morgan, a National Sports Council coordinator, is focused on protecting the Belize River and preserving heritage.

The launch drew several sponsors and environmental partners, including Madisco, Belize Water Services Limited, the Department of the Environment, the National Channel, and the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT). 

The delegates will also take part in a cleanup initiative today in Belize City and will continue until Friday at the Belmopan Market “to encourage the reduction of single-use plastics and promote more sustainable choices among consumers,” said Shanee Rhaburn, Acting Environmental Officer at the Department of the Environment (DOE). 

Organisers are hoping to reclaim the international Miss Earth crown, last won by Belize in 2021 through Destiny Wagner.
