Modern Tools Power Agriculture’s Next Chapter

The Ministry of Agriculture just got a major tech upgrade, thanks to a partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This project, called “The Enabling of Belize’s Statistical System,” is all about modernizing how we collect and manage agricultural data. We’re talking about drones flying over crop fields, high-tech survey devices, and software that crunches numbers in real time. During a recent field visit, officials from KOICA, FAO, and the ministry saw these tools in action, everything from drone-assisted crop surveys to computer-assisted interviews. They’re making sure that Belize can track agricultural production accurately and quickly. A formal handover ceremony marked the delivery of a Utility Task Vehicle and a trailer. These fancy toys will help teams reach remote areas, gather data on the spot, and keep the information flowing. Accurate data drives smarter decisions, policies that safeguard food security, strengthen rural communities, and keep Belize on track to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals.
