More Details of Dangriga Father Shot Dead

A father was shot dead inside his Dangriga home on Friday night. Police say the attack happened shortly after 9 o’clock at a residence on Rear Pine Street.

Officers arrived to find 28-year-old fisherman Oscar Williams Jr on a sofa with several gunshot wounds. Reports are that he had been in the lower flat of his two-storey home with his son when a masked man in dark clothing appeared at the doorway and fired repeatedly.

“What the investigators have been able to determine so far is that Williams was inside his residence along with a family member when a male person who wore a face mask entered that dwelling and fired several shots, fatally injuring Williams,” said the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Stacy Smith.

Authorities recovered a large quantity of ballistic evidence from inside the house, including 14 expended 9mm shells and three slugs.

Williams was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead and now awaits a post-mortem examination.

No motive has been revealed. However, ASP Smith confirmed that one male suspect has been detained.

“The investigation is being conducted, and all angles are being pursued,” Smith added.
