More Details on the Death of “Drive”
Forty-three-year-old Belize City resident Edwin Flowers died following a medical emergency at sea near Caye Caulker on Sunday evening.
Flowers was reportedly out fishing when the vessel began experiencing mechanical problems. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, Head of the Crime Investigation Branch, said, “There was a slight fire on the engine.”
While efforts were being made to repair the engine, Flowers allegedly suffered a stroke.
Flowers was transported to the Caye Caulker Health Center, where he was pronounced dead. A doctor later certified the cause of death as a massive cerebrovascular accident (CVA).
According to Romero, “Upon arrival, they saw that a male person was being taken to the clinic for medical treatment. He was later pronounced dead.”
Police say no foul play is suspected. A postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.
