The mother of 43-year-old Marlon “Tiny” Usher, Brenda Usher, is struggling with the death of her son, who was fatally stabbed on Sunday night in Belize City.

“I mih think that they just stabbed him; I didn’t think about dead. But when my son them gone dah hospital, then come back di bawl, da death,” Brenda told News 5. “How they wa kill my lee bwai, who da wa a hard-working bwai, weh work every day. They gone kill my lee bwai for a woman.”

Police reported Usher was at his usual spot on Dorris Brooks Crescent when a man he knew approached and stabbed him multiple times. Neighbours said the attack stemmed from an argument two nights earlier, after the suspect accused Usher of speaking to his girlfriend.

Usher died at the scene.

Brenda described her son as a “nice person, he wa laugh, he da like clown and di give jokes.” She added, “Although I bex with ah and di rail up with ah fi lef lone them woman. To find ihself a good gyal weh want you and you want ah.”

According to Brenda, she had warned the woman to stay away from her son before it led to tragedy. She said the person behind her son’s killing “grow with my children them. That person come up with them.”

Brenda added that the family is not seeking revenge but warned that her son’s killer will eventually “go mess with the wrong person… Because when you do bad, bad follow you.”

Usher’s mother is still recovering from a stroke and has asked the public for financial assistance as she prepares to bury her son, who helped care for her and kept the household running. She can be contacted at 606‑4295.
