Mother Seeks Truth After Son Dies in Shooting

There are more questions than answers following the death of Andy Suazo, a young man from Camalote Village whose life was cut short under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Suazo was socialising with a friend on a property in the village when a firearm discharged, striking him in the upper body. He was rushed to the hospital but later died.

Police are now working to determine whether that shooting was self-inflicted or the result of an accident.

Behind the investigation, his mother is still trying to make sense of a day that started as one of the best she had shared with her son in a long time.

Andrea Azueda raised Andy largely on her own, becoming a mother at 15 through a high-risk pregnancy, leaning on her mother and grandmother for support along the way. She described her son as humble, intelligent, and deeply passionate about music, a young man who wrote his own songs and once wrote one about their life together.

“That song told our whole life story,” Azueda said. “That told about all the struggles. And that showed me that he realised the struggles. He realised what I did and what I went through to have him where he was.”

In the hours before his death, she said they spent time together as a family, unaware it would be their last. “I don’t want justice,” she said. “All I want is the truth. I want answers… If it was an accident, if it was self-inflicted, whatever. Because a dead man tells no tale.”

She asked only that whoever was present that day come forward with what they know.
