Motorists Killed While Riding Tandem on Highway

Three lives lost in just a few days; two separate crashes have left families grieving and police investigating. The first happened along the George Price Highway, between miles fifty-two and fifty-three. Derrel Montero and Sean Armstrong were on a motorcycle when they reportedly lost control and slammed into a guardrail. Montero didn’t survive. Then, on Saturday, tragedy struck again, this time at mile twenty-one on the Hummingbird Highway. Three men were riding tandem when the driver lost control and crashed into a guardrail. Two of them, Maritso Cho and Heraldo Ack, died on the spot. ASP Stacy Smith has the details on these heartbreaking incidents.

“On Friday, seventeenth Octiber2025 at approximately three thirty a,m,, as a consequence of a report of a road traffic accident, Roaring Creek Police visited an area between miles fifty-two and fifty-three of the George Price Highway in Teakettle village. Upon the arrival of Police, they observed two male persons with carrying degrees of injuries, consistent with a road traffic accident. Also observed on the scene was a motorcycle which was damaged and a guardrail which was showing signs of damage. Both male persons, who were later identified as Derrel Montero, twenty-five years of age and Shawn Armstrong were escorted to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment, however, Montero succumbed to the injuries he sustained. Armstrong is still hospitalized at the moment and is listed in a stable condition. Preliminary investigation revealed that on the same date, at approximately three fifteen, Montero and Armstrong were travelling on the motorcycle when Montero, who is believed to have been the driver, lost control and collided inti the guard rail which caused them to be flung from the cycle. On Saturday, sometime around twelve thirty-five a.m., information was received of a road traffic accident, at mile twenty-one of the Hummingbird highway. Police visited the scene where they observed and extensively damaged motorcycle in the middle of the road. Also observed on the scene were the unresponsive bodies of Martiso Cho, thirty-two years of age  and Heraldo  Ack, thirty years of age. Police also learned that one, Serial Lino, who was also on the motorcycle was escorted to the Southern Regional hospital for medical attention. So far what the police have been able to ascertain is that all three people were on the cycle, travelling from Middlesex to Dangriga. When the driver apparently lost control and collided into the guard rail in the vicinity of mile twenty-one, which caused all three person to be flung from the cycle. The investigation inti this continues.”
