Murder at the Museum: Can You Solve the Mystery?
A Museum Tour with an Unexpected Twist
What begins as a guided tour of the Museum of Belize will take a mysterious turn when Murder at the Museum brings an interactive theatrical experience to life on November 6, 7, and 8.
Joining Open Your Eyes to give viewers a preview were Kevin Mendez, who plays Detective Makuti; Alanna Rosado, who plays Dani; and Gianny Logan, a docent at the Museum of Belize who also takes on a role in the production.
The experience combines history, theatre, and audience participation, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the museum before becoming part of a murder investigation.
From Museum Tour to Murder Mystery
The experience begins with Logan, who serves as the museum docent, guiding guests through the exhibits and sharing information about the museum. Along the way, attendees will interact with the actors before the story takes an unexpected turn.
Once the tour concludes, a murder takes place, and everyone becomes a suspect. Guests are then brought into the investigation, where they will be asked questions and encouraged to piece together the clues to uncover what happened.
Mendez returns as the familiar character Makuti, who has now moved up from police officer to detective. He will work alongside Officer Taffy, played by Brandon Usher, as they lead the investigation and engage guests in solving the mystery.
Rather than watching a traditional stage performance, attendees become part of the story, using their observations and problem-solving skills to help determine the outcome.
Three Days, Multiple Endings
The production will run for three days, with multiple showtimes and limited spaces to maintain an intimate experience. Organizers have also added a unique twist: each session will feature a different murder and ending, meaning no two experiences will be exactly alike.
The cast and production team, including writer and director Melissa Espat, have been working through the different scenarios to ensure each performance delivers its own mystery and surprises.
Each session accommodates approximately 25 participants, giving guests an opportunity to interact closely with the actors and take part in the investigation.
