Family and loved ones of Naser Reyes are left processing his death at Belize’s Western Border after he was reportedly denied entry.

His sister wrote online, “My brother just wanted to make it home.” She added, “My emotions are too much to bear; I’m so loss. I’m so sad I’m confused. We had so many future plans.”

Reyes, a resident of Mango Creek, had travelled to Honduras for surgery after a recent diagnosis of advanced cancer.

The family had made arrangements for his return to Belize in a Honduran ambulance, where a local medical team was expected to take over his care.

Reports indicate border officials refused him entry despite being informed of his critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the border by Honduran medical personnel.

Another relative posted, “not the news I was hoping to hear; you fought till the very end, cuz.”

A resident pointed to the recent loss of another villager, 38-year-old Brandon Coleman, who died in a motorcycle collision just days before. The resident said, “I swear we village the mourn. All the ones dying dah who we grow up with like breda.”

News 5 has contacted immigration authorities for comment regarding Reyes’ death.
