Narcotics Haul Exposes Corozal as Major Drug Trafficking Route
A major drug bust in the north is once again putting the spotlight on Corozal as a key trafficking route. Police say a targeted, intelligence-led operation Tuesday night in the Ramonal Landing area of Patchakan Village led to the discovery of eight large sacks packed with suspected cannabis. In total, officers seized more than three hundred and eighty pounds of the drug, marking one of the latest blows in the ongoing fight against narcotics moving through the region.

“Police have seized three hundred and eighty-two pounds of cannabis following an intelligence-led operation that was conducted by officers attached to the Mobile Interdiction Unit. This operation was conducted on Tuesday, Nineteenth May, 2026 around 8:40 p.m. when that operational team conducting a search in the vicinity of Ramonal Landing in Patchakan Village, Corozal, which led to the discovery of eight black bags which contained suspected cannabis weighing a total of three hundred and eighty-two pounds. The drugs have since been deposited as found property.”
Authorities say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs across the Belize–Mexico border.
